L-TEC Strings in Wilson BLX

John it was great meeting you yesterday as well as John and Bonnie. I think you really have an exceptional store albeit small its a tennis boutique and I like it !!! makes it feel very exclusive I will nominate you for tennis store of the year in Alta magazine for sure . As for the strings I have to tell you I am faced with a very serious dilemma those strings are the most game changing strings I have ever used !!! and I am not some run of the mill guy that has used 10 different strings in a lifetime I may try 6-10 different strings a year I always feel that you should be open to trying new things especially products that may elevate you game. I warmed up for a few minutes on a wall just to see what it was going to feel like and after hitting for 2-3 minutes I knew I had a winner winner chicken dinner :-) After 30 minutes I really excited about the feel, playability and control the feel was out of this world I was hitting drop shots and slice drop shots that I had seen his Excellency Roger Federer hit against other people I found a new slice drop shot that I had only seen but could never duplicate that he hits, its a slice drop that bounces vertical in the same spot and drops almost backwards, I am known to have a ferocious forehand but was hitting backhand winners slice and topspin all night .

In a hour and a half I had hit 3 inside in forehands winners that were stuck in the fence, 5 forehand winners down the line that were stuck in the fence , three topspin backhand winners that were stuck in the fence. Balls that hit the bottom of the fence had so much spin they would climb the fence and go straight up in the air. I cant remember the last time I laughed at my own shots that much it was sick !!! I felt like another person was hitting these amazing shots and I was watching, in reality it was me that was the great part. I didn't tell my friend that I had new strings his comment was you must have slept at a Holiday Inn last night and haven't woken up from you tennis dream because you hitting the ball like Federer, I said the ball got some crazy spin tonight he replied "who you telling? I was there...some of those balls were making noise as they went by me " And then I told him, his comment was they must be magic strings because the shots I hit were like a Magic Wand the made the ball travel so fast they were disappearing , I was on the ground laughing after that one. So you definitely have a new customer !!! .

My dilemma is that I really don't want to tell any of my friends about you I am afraid they would start doing that to me :-) but I guess its all good in the end. So I got two hours last night will probably get 3 hours in tomorrow, one in the morning and then two in the evening will chart my play time and see how they stack up love that they dont move around that's a big plus for me. So if you have any pros that have any concerns about trying them feel free to give them my number I will gladly give you and the strings a stellar recommendation. If that guy John Elliot comes to visit you I would love to meet you in would be interesting and informative for sure.

L-TEC Strings in Donnay Formula

I have played extensively with the hybrid sets you sent and, frankly, I think they are the absolutely best strings I have ever used.

I asked Roman Prokes to string my racquets with L-Tec and he told me he never heard of the strings and "Didn't have time" to read the paragraph of instructions you had sent. I went on to another stringer in Manhattan who also had never heard of L-Tec, but who went over your instructions with me and strung my racquets.

I am using the new Donnay Formula racquet (the same one Bethanie Mattek Sands used to win the Australian Open Mixed Doubles) and with your hybrid set of strings, it was magic. Great power, great control, great feel...just perfect. Much better than any other combination I've used and I've tried most of the Luxilon strings, many others and I usually pair them with Babolat VS gut. Anyway, L-Tec is the best string I've ever used.

I am, by the way, a former High School, College and tournament player--a 5.0 and a lefty (I actually played Rod Laver once at Kalamazoo--1956-- when he was under 18 and I was about 17--yes, I lost!). In college I hurt my arm and had to give up tennis. I switched to being a righty for everything and took up tennis again when I was about 31 years old. It took me years to be able to play at all. Finally, after several years I got pretty good as a righty, won tournaments in my 40's and 50's was rated a 4.5 player. I hit with tennis pros regularly (2-3 times a week), I mostly just hit and I never play doubles. I know my strings--I've hit a lot of balls!

I admit I never played with such good stringing, and I decided to work just with L-TEC strings and your method of stringing.

I have never experienced as much success on the court as I have had with the new strings you installed for me. Just as you said, I was able to swing freely and the ball stayed in the court. As my confidence grew, I found myself hitting shots that were hard for me to believe. These strings have improved my game and I am both delighted and surprised. I admit, I was a huge skeptic about L-TEC strings. The claims being made seemed to be unlikely. From years of experience with plenty of polys I knew for a fact that ALL polys lose tension. I knew for a fact that no poly would last more than 4 - 6 hours with my hard-hitting style of play. I knew for a fact that any string strung below 60lbs in my PDR would be impossible to control.

After talking with you I was even more skeptical, as you well know. I only agreed to mail my racquet to you because you offered free stringing. It came back within 3 days and I planned to test it after my USTA league match. After getting blown out the first set, 2 - 6, I figured I had nothing to lose and broke it out. I was already in a bad mood and after the first few balls sailed long I was not impressed. But the feel and power I was getting felt much different than anything else I had tried. As I adjusted, it is almost as if control magically appeared. There was plenty of power, but the control I found amazed me. I came storming back to take the second set 7 - 6 (7 - 3). As I continued the match I found myself getting bolder and the results paid off as I easily took the 3rd set and match 6 - 3.

At this point I was intrigued. The next time out I liked it even more. The third time I figured the performance would fade, but it did not. I was at 5 hours and the performance was exactly the same as it was in my USTA match. This is when I called you to let you know how unbelievable the strings were. I ended up playing for an additional 10 hours before they finally broke! The performance dipped slightly at around the 9 hour mark, but still played excellent right up until the time they broke. All that I "knew" about polys was proven wrong. I admit it. Now I need to learn how to string them at lower tensions like you. I will be in touch. Thanks for being patient with me and convincing me to give them a fair shot. If not for you I would have never tried them.
